General Comment Gloria Scott was a Hollywood drug counsellor who Anthony felt an affinity towards and became great friends with along with the rest of the peppers.
However she grew seriously ill with cancer. She passed away sometime between that gig and the penning of 'Venice Queen'. The song is not about drugs at all, it's a positive, albeit slightly melancholy, way to deal with losing a dear friend. She obviously helped Anthony a lot through some very dark times 'You taught me most of what I know, Where would I be without you Glo?
As far as the Venice connection goes I'm not sure, perhaps at her behest her ashes were set free down the canals of Venice 'Paddle on just around the bend, find a place where you can see, all the mamas and the papas'.
But thats just an assumption. Anyway, those are some facts but you could adapt this song to help you when your lover breaks up with you But that's the story behind the song. And it's the truth There was an error. It is referring to Venice Beach in California, because right before she died he had bought a house for her there. This song is so inspirational, and beautiful. How hard it must have been for Anthony to perform it live.
Anthony is such a talent. I can listen to Stadium Arcadium on an endless loop. Also love the early stuff Baby Appeal, etc. General Comment Its about a friend of theirs who recently died. They mentioned it in an interview. Anthony said it describes how they feel about not being able to properly say goodbye We all want to tell her Tell her that we love her Polak on September 17, Link.

Before you spout shit that you made up, you should at least try to find out what the song really means. Gloria Scott was Anthony Kiedis's rehab councelor who was an ex-heroine addict. We recently broke up, and I am avoiding this song, cause it makes me think of him. It's not the goodbye that hurts, it's all that flashbacks that follow.
We broke up once before, and he was constantly listening to this song, especially the part: We all want to kiss her, tell her that we miss her. And this song brings me so much pain, knowing that we will never be together again. And I know this is not the meaning of the song, and probably no one will ever read this, but I need to relieve my soul. Blitva, I love you, and I hate that I love you, I will try to forget.
Anthony wrote this song about his drug counselor Gloria Scott. Because Anthony was so greatful for her help he bought her a house along the sea, and wrote this song for her.
No interpretation. Just want to say that this song moves me like nothing else they've ever written. I would dare say its the song they love the most as well as least. So much love in this song. I can feel it in my soul. Thanks Gloria. The song is about Kiedis's rehabilitation counselor Gloria Scott. She had drug problems of her own, but later became a huge inspiration to him by supporting him throughout his issues.
The band loved her, and bought her an apartment on Venice Beach in California to help her recover from cancer. However, she died soon after, and Kiedis wrote this song as a tribute to her.
They described her near her death as having "a stylish mess of silver hair" and honored her with the verse "a woman of your kind is rare". The band wrote Venice Queen because they thought it was the best way to say goodbye as Gloria fades into the "waves she made". If you actually read Anthony Kiedis's autobiography, "Scar Tissue," you would know that this song is about one of their close friends named Gloria who died of cancer.
She moved to a house close to the ocean to die, and they stayed with her until she died and wrote the song for her afterwords. My interpretation of Venice Queen, is Anthony's battle with heroin. In the beginning he talks about how the drug makes him feel, "Body free and a body less" an how addicting it is, "Hard to leave when it's picturesque.
In Mellowship Slinky in B Major the lyric "Can I get another kiss from you, Kiss me right here on my tattoo" can be interpreted as Kiedas shooting heroine, as he has a tattoo on his right wrist. This may hint to Kiedas' urge for the drug. Yea your all correct is about a rehab counselor and long time friend of AK who had a disease and died in her seaside home in Venice hence venive queen which the band bought.
It also says in Scar Tissue that he first met Gloria in one of countless Rehab groups that he attended before finally becoming clean. She was a big inspiration to him, supporting him despite his relapsing into addiction again and again. He recalled she always sent him postcards, never was mad at him if he did do bad things, and she in fact had a post of the RHCP on her wall as well as Niel Young.
That was touching to Anthony to be placed on the wall with him. Most of what you said was correct, and it is in the book "Scar Tissue". Gloria was a wise lady who he went to see for counselling. She had a poster on the wall of Neil Young.
